ELKO — The Great Basin College Farm Bureau Chapter Aggies are teaming up with local producers, farmers, and ranches to bring the community Face Your Food, an event intended to raise awareness about local food products available for purchase throughout the year in our backyards.

GBC Farm Bureau Chapter Adviser Heather Steel describes this event as an “eat local expo,” providing an educational opportunity for both community members and fellow producers to network and learn more about local and sustainable food products grown in Elko and surrounding areas.

The Aggies are currently looking for more local and surrounding area producers who may need extra help getting their products to consumers and would like to participate in this expo.

Products by various vendors will also be available for purchase at the event.

“We will have several producers available that raise and grow grass fed and Wagyu beef, farm fresh eggs, cheese, fresh produce, honey, and much more,” Steel said.

Face Your Food will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. April 23 in the Leonard Center for Student Life at Great Basin College Campus. This event is free for both vendors and attendees.

Interested vendors and participants are welcome to contact Heather Steel at 775-753-2303 or email heather.steel@gbcnv.edu.
